New Zealand citizens who want to relocate to Vietnam for work, must first have a contract with a Vietnamese employer. Based on this agreement, he or she will be issued a Vietnamese work visa (LD) and labor permit. Work visas have a maximum validity of 12 months, and can be renewed before they expire.

How to relocate to Vietnam from New Zealand as an investor

Vietnam issues investment visas to New Zealand citizens who have the financial means to invest in Vietnam and meet the government’s standards. The financial requirements vary based on the type of visa they apply for.

The Vietnamese investor visa falls into the following categories:

  • the DT1 visa  for investors with total capital over VND 100 billion (approx. USD 4.3 million) or investing in business fields and places designated by the Vietnamese government and comes with a validity of up to 5 years;
  • the DT2 visa for foreign investors with capital contributions of VND 50 (approx. USD 2,2 million) to VND100 billion (approx. USD 4.3 million) with a validity of up to 5 years;
  • the DT3 visa for investors with capital contributions of VND3 billion (approx. USD130,000) and below VND 50 billion (approx. USD2,2 million) with a validity of up to 3 years;
  • the DT4 visa for investors with capital contributions of less than VND 3 billion (about USD 130,000) with a validity of up to one year.
